******************************** Homework **************************************

Homework is given out every Friday and due back on the following Thursday

Children receive phonics practise homework each week as well as a piece of maths or literacy work.

Homework pieces consolidate the things we have learnt during the week and children should be able to complete their task with a small amount of support.

A number square and phonics support is stuck in the front of your child's homework book so please encourage them to use this if the need to.

If your child needs a spare copy of their homework then please ask Miss Houghton.

******************************** Reading Books **************************************

Reading books should be in school every day so we can hear the children read during the week. We have a box for the children to put their books in each morning and Miss Pearson responds to any comments or messages and asks the children to change their reading book if needed.

Don't forget out access to Bug Club where the children can read books on their coloured book band level as well as play Spelling and Punctuation games for year 2.

We expect the children to read at least 5 times a week (including the times we hear them in school) and reward them on a Monday for this. We assess the children each half term to ensure they are reading the right colour book band.
