SHIRES School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are automatically entitled to universal free school meals.

If your child is in Year 3,4,5 or 6 and you would like them to have a hot meal then the following applies...

  • School meals are paid for by cash or cheque (unless entitled to universal free school meals or means tested free school meals) - cheques should be made payable to SHIRE SERVICES who are our off-site caterers. If paying by cash the correct money is required = £2.30 per day.
  • Payments should be made by Wednesday each week and a week in advance of the school meal(s) required.
  • The cash or cheque should be placed in a sealed envelope marked clearly ‘school meals’ with your child’s name and year group and the day and date of each meal required.
  • Ordinarily, envelopes should be posted in the blue post box on our school reception desk, however, at present we are not able to allow anyone into the school reception area. Therefore, please place any payments into the outside post box situated to the left of the main school reception entrance. This post box should be used in the mornings only as it will only be emptied after registration – for security reasons please do not deposit any cash in the post box when collecting children from school to avoid any money being left overnight. In the event that you drop your children off and do not access the school grounds or your child walks to school on their own, they should hand their lunch money to their class teacher.

If your child usually brings a packed lunch to school and requires a school meal at short notice please let the school office know by 9am on the day you require a meal and if payment is required, this should be made on the day.
