Music
We are musicians at St. Kenelm's! We learn key knowledge, skills and understanding in Music based on the National Curriculum and this builds up year upon year. We love an excuse to learn about new composers and genres and we fit in as many opportunities as possible for children at our school to learn an instrument, compose and perform.
Our Music Subject Lead teacher is Miss Houghton.

Music Statement of Intent Music Overview
We love to sing : We sing for parents, we sing in Music club, we sing in Church, we even sing at our local Pubs and Nursing home!
We work with peripatetic Music teachers from Severn Arts to help deliver 1:1 and group sessions of a variety of instruments. We have whole class teaching from specialist teachers- notably Ukulele in Year 3.
Each year we make sure that each child has the chance to get involved in sessions from other specialists including djembe drumming.
In Year 6, during the pyramid school residential at Ingestre Arts in Staffordshire, our children choose from various art forms and have the opportunity to become part of a band for some of their stay. They compose, write lyrics, sing in a recording studio and perform in a music studio to their audience!
